Zener Limiter LM-2Z
Analog style limiter emulating hardware limiters built around Zener diodes — more transparent and liquid than classic digital brickwall limiters, with significantly less distortion.
LM-2Z is a limiter based on the design and sound of hardware analog limiters that use Zener diodes as their main component. A limiter is a device that removes unwanted peaks and overloads of the signal and makes the sound louder.
Compared to classic digital brickwall limiters, the emulation of an analog Zener limiter offers a more transparent, liquid and airy sound, with significantly less distortion and fewer unwanted artifacts.
While analog limiters are not 100% precise — they can let some peaks through and cause clipping of the output signal — we added an algorithm that does not allow a single dB of signal to pass above the level set by the output knob. So this limiter combines the best features of analog and precise digital limiters in one.
LM-2Z is ideal as a mixing limiter on individual channels.
Feature Highlights
- Limiter amount knob — amount of overall limiting
- Bass cut knob — the deepest sub-basses can cause distortion when limited, and you can remove them with this knob
- Time constant knob — sets the time-based reaction of the limiter to peaks, in milliseconds
- Output volume knob — with a hard digital ceiling so nothing passes above the set level
