Techno VST Plugins & Instruments
Techno is a genre of subtraction — a few elements, mixed with unusual care, repeated until they hypnotise. That puts almost all the weight on two things: the kick and the space around it. The plugins below are the G-Sonique tools built for techno, grouped by what they do in a track: kicks and rumble, instruments and banks, acid techno and 303 basslines, reverbs, FX and soundsystem character, and drum samples.
All of them run as VST/VSTi plugins on Windows — Ableton Live, FL Studio, Cubase, Bitwig, Studio One, Reaper or Sonar. Some are also available for macOS as AU/VST; the format icons on each product card and the specs on each product page tell you which. Most have a free demo version.
Techno kicks & rumble
The modern techno kick is really two sounds: a short transient with a defined body, and a long, resonant tail — the "rumble" — that fills the space between hits and gives the track its weight. Producers usually build that tail by feeding a kick through reverb and compression, which is easy to do badly and hard to control.
KFXT-41 is a dedicated techno kick and rumble processor: you feed it your kick and shape the body, saturation and rumble tail directly, with the low end staying controlled instead of turning into a wash. It works on sampled kicks as well as synthesised ones.
Techno instruments & sound banks
Once the kick is sorted, a techno track needs stabs, drones, metallic percussion, atmospheres and the occasional hook — sounds with character rather than polish.

Acid techno & 303 basslines
Acid is back in techno, and not as a retro novelty. The squelching 303 line has returned to hard, industrial and peak-time sets, largely carried by producers who were not born when the original silver box went out of production — and it works in techno for the same reason it always did. One monophonic line with a moving resonant filter can carry an entire arrangement, and it occupies the mids rather than the low end, so it never fights the kick for the space the rumble needs.
The Alien 303 line is our TB-303-flavoured acid engine: fast envelopes, a screaming resonant filter and the non-linear distortion that turns a bassline into a lead as you open the cutoff.
Alien 303 V2 is the workhorse — two oscillators, 14 waveforms, 9 filters and a switch between a clean classic mode and an analog mode with slight detuning, so it covers everything from a tight rolling bassline to a fully saturated acid scream. Alien 4DX Binaural runs that engine through a binaural stage that positions the acid line in space around the listener instead of across a stereo field — worth having in a genre where two or three elements have to fill a room. Alien 303 is the original: simpler, sharper, and quick to program when you want the sound without the menu diving.
A practical note for techno rather than psytrance: acid lines sit best a little drier and further back than the kick, and long resonant tails on the 303 will collide with the reverb you have already put on the kick. Automate the cutoff over 16 or 32 bars rather than per bar — the slow open is most of what makes an acid track build.
Reverbs, FX & soundsystem character
In a genre this sparse, reverb and room character are not garnish — they are most of the arrangement. Depth and movement are what keep a two-element loop interesting for six minutes.

How to make a rumbling techno kick
Where to start
For techno specifically, the highest-leverage purchase is almost always the kick chain. A kick with a controlled rumble tail will do more for how "professional" a track sounds than any amount of extra synths — which makes KFXT-41 the natural starting point, with TECHNOL HN1 next for the sounds on top.
If you play out or release, PA Club Soundsystem Emulator is worth a look early: hearing what a club system will do to your low end before the night itself saves a lot of embarrassment.
And if what you are after is the acid side of techno, Alien 303 V2 is the one to start with — a kick and a 303 line is a finished track in this genre more often than it has any right to be.

Fewer than most genres. A kick you can shape properly, a source of stabs and atmospheres, and a reverb with character will carry a techno track. Techno rewards depth on a few elements far more than it rewards a large plugin collection.
