Psytrance VST Plugins & Instruments
G-Sonique has been building tools for psychedelic trance since 2007 — and psytrance is still where most of our development goes. This page collects every G-Sonique plugin and sample pack made for the genre, grouped by the job it does in a track: bass, kicks, synths and atmospheres, FX and space, and samples.
Everything below runs as a VST/VSTi plugin on Windows, so it drops straight into FL Studio, Ableton Live, Cubase, Studio One, Reaper, Bitwig or Sonar. Some titles are also available for macOS as AU/VST — the format icons on each product card and the specs on each product page tell you which. Most titles have a free demo version, so try before you spend anything.
Psytrance bass & acid synths
The rolling 16th-note bassline is the spine of a psytrance track, and it is the hardest part to get right with a general-purpose synth. The problem is rarely the waveform — it is the envelope behaviour and the filter movement between notes, which is what gives the bass its bounce and keeps it from smearing into the kick.
Our Alien 303 line is built specifically for that job: a virtual-analog, TB-303-flavoured engine with the fast envelopes and resonant filter sweeps that acid and psytrance basslines depend on. Alien 303 V2 is the workhorse; Alien 4DX Binaural adds a 3D binaural stage for wide, disorienting acid leads; Ultrabass MX4/4 covers deeper, rounder bassline duties.
A practical tip that costs nothing: sidechain the bass to the kick and keep the bass strictly mono below roughly 120 Hz. Psytrance lives or dies on that kick–bass relationship, and no plugin will fix a bassline that is fighting the kick for the same space.
Psytrance kick drums
A psytrance kick is not a sampled 909 — it is a designed sound with a tuned body, a controlled pitch envelope and a decay short enough to leave room for the bass on the offbeats. Building one from scratch every time is slow, and layering random samples usually ends in a muddy low end.
PsyKick AK1 generates the kick as an instrument: you shape the body, click and pitch envelope directly, tune it to the key of your track, and get a kick that already sits with your bassline instead of one you have to fight in the mixer.
Psytrance synths, leads & atmospheres
Between the kick and the bass sits everything that gives a track its identity — leads, plucks, pads, vocal textures and the strange atmospheric layers that make psytrance psychedelic rather than just fast.
Renegade is the synth to reach for when you want to build a sound from scratch: an analog-style engine with fat oscillators and aggressive filters that handles psytrance leads, screams and pads without sounding like a preset. Psytrance Synths 8000 X1 takes the opposite approach — a rompler of ready-to-play psytrance synths for when you want to write rather than sound-design.
X-Prog 4600 covers the smoother, more melodic progressive end. DarkPsy FX466 goes the other way, into darkpsy, hi-tech and forest territory. Psytrance AI Voices adds vocal and spoken-word textures, and Psychill X1 handles the downtempo, psychill and ambient side.
Psychedelic FX, reverbs & delays
Transitions are what separate a psytrance track from a loop. Risers, downlifters, tunnels, whooshes and stereo movement are the glue between sections, and they are also where a mix earns its sense of depth.
Psychedelic FX 6000 V1 is a library of ready FX hits and transitions. Psychedelic Tunnel T1 is a creative algorithmic reverb for the long, tunnel-like tails the genre is known for. Psychedelic Spiral S1 transforms existing sounds into spiralling, morphing versions of themselves, and VTD-42 is a vintage-style tape delay for dub-flavoured echoes that drift and degrade.
Psytrance samplepacks & drum kits
Percussion, hats, rides, fills and one-shot FX — the layer that carries the groove between the kick and the bass. Our Psytrance Drum Kit packs are plain WAV files, so they load into any DAW or sampler without a plugin.

Where to start
If you are new to producing the genre, the shortest path to a track that sounds like psytrance is three things: a tuned kick, a bassline that locks to it, and one lead that carries the arrangement. That maps to PsyKick AK1, Alien 303 V2 and Psytrance Synths 8000 X1 — everything else is refinement.
Download the free demo versions first. They run in your own DAW with your own project, which tells you far more than any audio example on a product page.
There is also an hour and a half of full-on lead and FX sound design, a darkpsy beat and bassline walkthrough and a dozen more psytrance sessions on the video tutorials page.
