Transient Shaping System+

Or maybe it is the other way round and their sound is too sharp and aggressive? No problem. Transient Shaping System+ is a tool intended to fix most possible problems with your drums or percussion and give them a fresh modern sound, a punchy shape and an envelope adapted to your requirements.

Transient Shaping System+ is not a dynamic processor controlled by input level amounts (like a compressor). The overall sound is controlled and shaped by its own dynamics and transients.

Mr. Jaro Valo, senior mastering engineer at Analog Dimension mastering studio, explains: “More than 70% of mixes from garage bands and home producers of electronic music that we get for mastering are missing percussive energy, drive and transients on drums and percussion — they simply sound flat. Mix engineers probably do not realise that tracks will be additionally compressed and limited during mastering, and that the dynamic range and transients will be reduced by compressors and limiters in every professional mastering outfit in order to achieve the desired loudness. So it is important to send transient-rich and punchy recordings to the mastering studio. Only then will the final record sound rich, fat and professional. The input mix should not sound flat, with squashed beats and without noticeable transients. Drums affect everything: the dynamics and sound of the full song, as well as the behaviour of the master compressor, limiter and so on.”

While Transient Shaping System+ is primarily aimed at controlling the transients of drums and percussion, it can be used on all instruments — guitars, keys, vocals, synths and more.

Please understand that every item is different and it is nearly impossible to set presets that fit every drum sample, so please adjust the included presets to your recorded material.
