VTD-42

There are tens of classic digital delays, but most of them sound classic, boring and digital. Vintage psychedelic delay VTD-42 is not like a classic digital delay. It sounds absolutely different — not like a delay at all.

Move with us to the beautiful age of the 60s, full of revolutionary vibes and rainbow hypnotic & psychedelic smoke in the air. No digital technology, just pure analog sound. VTD-42 represents the sound of that age. The only possible way to create a delay back then was to use special tape machine delays — hardware with three or more tape recorders, constantly recording and repeating the recorded sound, creating a magic delay effect with all its artifacts: ripples, flutter and tape wow effects, detuning, noise and crackles. All of this created a magic psychedelic atmosphere. The only way to create reverb was with spring reverbs — special springs in metal boxes.

VTD-42 is mostly a tape delay emulation, but we also added a bit of spring reverb effect and a vacuum tube preamp input stage for some 60s dirt. Of course we are in the new 21st psychedelic century, so we added something more: the sound can be cleaner and more modern with a low input, and there is much more here than just vintage tape emulation — you will find interesting features such as the uppertone and undertone octaving effect for a stunning psychedelic spirit.

VTD-42 can be used for dub and chillout drums, and works perfectly for experimental genres, percussion, minimal techno, progressive trance, psytrance, reggae, dub and more. It can be used with live guitars, sitars, pianos and other instruments, and is perfect with synthesizers, chords and leads.
